The Scientific Committee of the Italian Society of Endocrinology (SIE) worked on an overview program mainly focused on the recent relevant scientific Italian contributions to the field of Endocrinology and Metabolism. The topics and speakers were identified in order to avoid major overlaps with the Scientific Program of the ICE-ECE Congress.

The Scientific Committee therefore prevalently selected young speakers that significantly contributed recent papers to the topic of the presentation. In order to attract people interested to both Research and Clinical topics this satellite meeting was mainly focused on novel perspectives for the management of endocrine patients (ie, Translational research). Moreover, two plenary sessions will be devoted to HOT clinical topics, and will be organized as Round Tables in order to stimulate the general discussion of the controversies that might emerge either from the presentation or from the audience.

The Executive Council believes the Scientific Committee has built up a satellite program that might attract the interest of all the Endocrinologists attending the ICE/ECE Congress, and therefore decided that the official language of this extraordinary SIE meeting will be English. Finally, SIE thanks Prof. G. Forti and his staff at the Department of Clinical Pathophysiology of the University of Florence for the help in building up this event.
